Film Review

Space Jam

Director: Joe Pytka
Release year: 1996
Runtime: 1h27m

title of poster

"GET READY TO JAM.

With their freedom on the line, the Looney Tunes seek the help of NBA superstar Michael Jordan to win a basketball game against a team of moronic aliens." --Letterboxd description

shouldve had The Tick on the team, guaranteed win

lowkey not a lot to say, mostly because to me its a pretty well rounded movie.
while Who Framed Roger Rabbit (Robert Zemeckis, 1988) is usually credited as the movie that introduced the blending of animated 2D with live action, I feel Space Jam should also get recognition for doing a damn good job as well. On another note, I really can't even fucking fathom what the pitch meeting with Micheal Jordan would have been like for this film. the whole plot is absolutely absurd and i love it

insert shakespeare joke here

Overall the message of the film is pretty standard kids stuff, but as someone who grew up watching Looney Tunes it really did the cartoon's silly slapstick humour justice. Its a shame that not as many tv shows for kids make use of such looney tune-esque humour anymore, and I really do believe that it could be worthwhile to start reintroducing it in more modern media. it really highlights the possibilities that are unique to the medium; its beautiful and cool to see semi-realistic dragons, but i want to see someone stretch their arm 15 ft in front of them to dunk a basketball !!!!!

anyways. conclusion? uhh

the rabbit and the duck should kiss WOAIAGGHHH WHO SAID THAT mustve been the wind isnt that crazy masssive wind draft in here someone should fix that window
